“Nine Times Nine” by The Crystal Teardrop–Single Review
The five-piece band The Crystal Teardrop will be making its stage debut at the Le Beat Bespoke Festival in London this year on Easter weekend.
Additionally, it will be releasing its first single, “Nine by Nine”, on April 7th. It’s creative, upbeat, enjoyable, and complex in composition.
In it, you can hear influences like The Byrds, The Kinks, Love, and even shades of the Small Faces from their stellar LP “Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake”. Of course, any sixties-influenced group would have to acknowledge the jangling strings and high-pitched vocals of The Hollies. Make note here, this is NOT a copy band! They’ve got a unique style and sound all their own.
The members include Alexandra Rose on guitar and vocals, Stuart Grey on keyboards, lead guitarist Leon Jones, bassist Caitlin Hare, and drummer Connor Wells.

The drumming on this tune is strong and diverse without overpowering the other instruments or vocals. The echo effect is great but, at times, seems to overshadow the vocal harmonies, which is unfortunate because the harmonies are outstanding.
The last thirty seconds of the track have a fade-out that surprisingly seems to get stronger rather than just melting away. Kudos to the engineer and writers on this.
So do I endorse this? Let me put it this way. I’ll be blasting this song for friends and family frequently in the foreseeable future.
