Artist Spotlight: Mig Sharp

    • Where are you from and how does that affect your work?

      • I’m from the West Coast of the United States. Don’t think it really affects my work much.

    • Who are your biggest artistic influences?

      • I can’t say I have any, I like a lot of artists, but I don’t really study them, or art in general.

    • Tell me about your favorite medium.

      • I like them all. I appreciate all art forms. As for me, I keep it simple: pencil, markers, thick bright acid-free cardstock/index.

    • Where do you find inspiration?

      • Everywhere, I never know where a pattern might emerge, I just hope to recall it.

    • When is your favorite time of day to create?

      • Depends on the day, but usually any. Some days, if i have time, I’ll spend the whole day working on pieces.

    • Describe how art is important to society.

      • It invokes thoughts and feelings, usually positive.

    • What motivates you to create?

      • I have a lot of supplies, so I need to use them all.

    • How do you define success as an artist?

      • I don’t.   I’d rather focus on happiness as an artist. Success can mean many things.

  • Does art help you in other areas of your life?

    • No.  LOL.

  • How do you develop your art skills?

    • I’m sure there’s a good process out there.   I just don’t think it’s for me. My style seems pretty static, but we’ll see how it goes.

  • Have you worked as a professional artist before?

    • No

  • What’s the purpose or goal of your work?

    • I don’t think there’s any purpose.   For me, it helps me relax and pass the time.

  • How can your work affect societal issues?

    • No clue.

  • How do you navigate the professional art industry?

    • I don’t.

  • Which art trends inspire your current work?

    • None.

  • How has your style changed over time?

    • I’ve started to use different markers.

  • What are your favorite and least favorite parts of professional art?

    • Not applicable.

  • Do you have a network of other artists, and how do they support you?

    • No.

  • What have critics and collectors said about your work?

    • They don’t know I exist.

  • Is there a specific environment or material that’s integral to your work?

    • Paper
