The Top 200 Psychedelic Songs from the Original Psychedelic Era
The Top 200 Psychedelic Songs from the Original Psychedelic Era
Lists are highly subjective, of course, and the idea behind this one isn’t to dictate which songs are better than
others. This list is designed more to enlighten, turn people on to songs they may not have known, and
invoke discussion.
It bears mentioning, however, that The Beatles are predominant on this list because they were the best
band ever and arguably did psychedelic music better than any band has ever done. For this reason, it was
hard for us not to fill the Top 10 with Beatles songs. Instead, they’re spaced out within the list, although
four songs are in the Top 10.

No songs by the 13th Floor Elevators (1964-1970)?
They’re on there. Look again.
In 1967-1968 Cream sold far more concert tickets than anyone, including the Beatles, but not one Cream song?
The Beatles had stopped doing concerts by 1967 and there is a Cream song on the list. Look again.
The Rogues Inc – People Say
“Mind Gardens” and “Horse Lattitudes?” C’mon Jason, you can do better than this.
Haha! OK. I always like getting feedback, even if I don’t agree with it. In this case, I agree with one of the songs: “Horse Latitudes”. It doesn’t belong on this list so I replaced it with another Doors tune, “Not to Touch the Earth”.
“Mind Gardens” is a trippy song. It may not be the best song by The Byrds, but it scores high on the psychedelic quotient.
Thanks for weighing in.
What? No Bubble Puppy-Hot Smoke & Sassafras?!!
Great song, but not particularly psychedelic.
More psychedelic than Orpheus-Can’t Find the Time which is on the list.
Looking for the song which includes lyrics of “sun spinning ’round with great emotion, world turning round with great devotion”
That’s 2000 light years from home
