How to Stay Wide Awake by Seagoth

Seagoth, the musical persona of Georgia Ochoa hailing from Cheshire, unveils their debut album “How to Stay Wide Awake” through the Bytes label, offering a kaleidoscope of retro synthesizers, surf vibes, art-pop, and introspective lyricism. This sonic journey, brewed within the confines of Georgia’s bedroom, transcends its initial intent of exploring the queer and female experience, delving into the broader spectrum of the human condition.

Seagoth’s musical voyage began with a series of well-received singles, championed by BBC Introducing, Radio X, and other influential platforms. The recent release of “Internet Cafe” further solidifies Seagoth’s emergence onto the indie scene.

Georgia’s musical odyssey commenced during their college years, where the moniker Seagoth emerged, drawing inspiration from diverse influences like shoegaze icons Slowdive, noise-pop experimenters Teen Suicide, and cinematic soundscapes. Despite facing interruptions due to the pandemic, Georgia channeled their creative energy into crafting “How to Stay Wide Awake,” a testament to resilience and artistic vision.

As Seagoth stands on the precipice of their musical debut, “How to Stay Wide Awake” promises to captivate audiences with its infectious melodies and profound introspection. This is more than just a debut album; it’s a testament to the power of artistic expression and the universality of human experience, transcending boundaries and resonating with listeners on a profound level.

The album’s tracks, ranging from the glam-rock anthem “Queen” to the politically charged “Amorphous,” weave a narrative that speaks to the struggles of fitting in and the quest for self-discovery. Each composition, meticulously produced and refined over the years, resonates with authenticity and emotional depth.

Reflecting on the album’s journey, Georgia shares insights into their personal growth, emphasizing the importance of embracing one’s emotions as a pathway to healing. “How to Stay Wide Awake” serves as a tribute to resilience, dedicated to all those navigating the complexities of existence and persevering through life’s challenges.
