Cape Town Psych Rockers Moskitos Release New Single

Cape Town-based trio Moskitos recently released their latest single, “Woman.” Shedding the hyperbole often associated with band descriptions, Moskitos deliver a raw and electrifying sound that harks back to the grit of 1970s rock.

Formed during the South African Covid lockdown in 2021, Moskitos utilized their time to meticulously craft their sound. Their music blends nods to early psychedelia and garage rock records, offering listeners a dynamic experience where feel-good day tripper vibes can quickly morph into fuzz-fueled intensity.

Their latest single, “Woman,” showcases the band’s ability to seamlessly blend dreamy vocal textures with electrifying guitar riffs. The track unfolds in two distinct sections, offering both comfort and ferocity, symbolizing the duality of womanhood.
Lyrically, “Woman” serves as a poignant reminder of humanity’s connection to the feminine energy that permeates existence. Through evocative verses, Moskitos urge listeners to reflect on the profound gift of life and our interconnectedness with the source of life itself.
Recorded live in studio with audio engineer Warren Fisher, Moskitos capture the raw essence of their sound, providing a glimpse into the passion and depth behind their music. As they gear up for the release of their debut full-length album, “Mirage,” fans can expect more of the gritty garage rock-inspired sound that Moskitos are known for.

With a string of successful releases and live shows under their belt, Moskitos are proving themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in the psych rock revivalist scene. Their unique blend of influences and high-energy performances make them a band worth keeping an eye on.
