How to Actually Work with Psychedelic Experiences (Not Just Have Them)

If nothing really changed after your last ā€œbreakthroughā€ā€¦ this is why.

  • Real change happens before and after, not just during the experience
  • Most people skip preparation and integration, which limits results
  • Your mind runs on old rules created in childhood
  • The work is learning how to see, question, and update those rules
  • Energy + direction = transformation

The Real Problem: We Overvalue the Experience

Most people treat these experiences like the main event.

But they’re not.

They’re more like a spotlight.

They show you what’s already there.

What matters is:

  • What you prepared going in
  • What you do with what you saw afterward

That’s where change happens.

The 3-Part Process Most People Miss

  1. Preparation (Almost everyone skips this)

This is where you:

  • Get clear on what you’re actually trying to understand
  • Identify patterns in your life
  • Ask better questions

Because vague questions = vague answers.

  1. The Experience (Not the main event)

This is where things get amplified.

  • Your patterns become louder
  • Your emotional reactions become clearer
  • Your internal ā€œpartsā€ show themselves

But this is just information.

  1. Integration (Where change actually happens)

This is the part people rush through… or skip entirely.

Integration is where you:

  • Make sense of what you saw
  • Translate it into real-life actions
  • Change habits, not just insights

Without this, it stays a story.

Why You Keep Repeating the Same Patterns

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:

You’re not reacting to your current life.

You’re reacting to rules you created as a kid.

Examples:

  • ā€œIf I speak up, something bad happensā€
  • ā€œI have to stay small to be safeā€
  • ā€œI can’t trust authorityā€

These rules were useful once.

They’re just outdated now.

The Moment Everything Clicks

When people realize this, something shifts:

ā€œThat behavior I hate… actually protected me once.ā€

That changes everything.

You move from:

  • Judgment → Understanding
  • Shame → Compassion
  • Stuck → Flexible

And that’s where change becomes possible.

What ā€œEnergyā€ Actually Means (without the Fluff)

Forget anything abstract.

Think of energy as:

  • The state you’re in
  • The lens you’re using
  • The version of you that’s showing up

Examples:

  • Fear → defensive decisions
  • Curiosity → open exploration
  • Judgment → rigid thinking
  • Compassion → flexible thinking

Different ā€œstatesā€ create different outcomes.

Why Some People Change Faster

It’s not about intelligence.

It’s about energy + direction.

If you can:

  • Stay present in discomfort
  • Bring awareness to what’s happening
  • Not shut down when things feel intense

You move faster.

If not, you avoid… and repeat.

The Hidden Pattern: Parts of You Are in Conflict

You don’t have one ā€œself.ā€

You have parts.

  • A part that wants growth
  • A part that wants safety
  • A part that avoids discomfort
  • A part that judges everything

When those parts are in conflict…

You feel stuck.

The work is getting them aligned.

The Real Goal

It’s not about becoming a different person.

It’s about:

Letting go of outdated rules
Keeping the useful parts
Updating how you respond

So you can actually live differently.
