Psychedelic Scene’s 12 Best Psychedelic Albums of 2021
As 2021 comes to a close, it’s time to name our top psych albums of the year.
The first thing you should know is that we didn’t listen to all the psych albums that came out this year. We couldn’t have because, well, the staff is here is a little on the small side, and, as such, it wouldn’t be feasible to even attempt to listen to all the psych albums that came out in 2021. Furthermore, “psych” has become such a buzzword that there are tons of albums coming out that are labeled “psych” that really don’t have much to do with psychedelic music at all.
So what we’re going to do is highlight the albums that we’ve already reviewed favorably and point you toward the original review. Here, in alphabetical order by title, are our favorite psychedelic albums of the year:
1. Afrique Victim—Mdou Moctar
2. Devour—Smiling
3. Enter the Shining Realm—Shining Realm
4. Flock—Jane Weaver
5. Good Goddamn—Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor
6. L.W.–King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
7. Outlaw R&B—Night Beats
8. Records & Love—The Astronomical Miracle
9. Songs of Love and Revolution—The Telescopes
10. Stoked on Planet Summer—Juleah
11. Sun Goes Out—Communicant
12. Take It from the Dead—Acid Dad
