Richard E’s “To the Moon” Reimagined on New Remix EP
Further Out Recordings returns with an imaginative new release: To the Moon Remixed, a double offering that sees Richard E’s acclaimed debut solo single reinterpreted by the enigmatic Future Species and the equally mysterious Preacher. Released digitally on Friday, June 13, 2025, the EP delivers two vastly different but equally compelling sonic journeys—both pushing the original track into bold new territory.
The first cut, the “Future Species Rework,” is a masterclass in deconstruction and reinvention. Known for their genre-fluid productions, Future Species peel back the layers of Richard E’s lush pop composition and rebuild it with swirling textures, elevated rhythms, and a deep, melodic bassline. The result is both nostalgic and forward-looking—blending the cinematic sweep of David Axelrod, the harmonic finesse of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the downtempo sophistication of Zero 7. It’s not just a remix—it’s a transformation, opening a new emotional register within the original piece.
Following this, The Preacher—of Echo Edits and Divine Discs notoriety—delivers “The Spacewalker Mix,” a remix of the remix that veers into the outer reaches of sonic experimentation. With time-stretching effects, reversed tape loops, octave shifts, chopped vocals, and unexpected tempo drops, The Preacher warps Future Species’ version into a spaced-out dream sequence. It’s a psychedelic voyage through time and texture, full of playful inventiveness and mind-bending FX—landing somewhere between Pink Floyd and Tame Impala.
The original version of To the Moon garnered attention with its inclusion in several film festivals and received a glowing four-star review in Shindig! Magazine as part of Richard E’s Opening Scene LP. This remix release adds new layers of depth and artistry, inviting listeners to revisit and reimagine the song from two strikingly different perspectives.
When the creatures crash and burn… press play and lift off.
