Artist Spotlight: Vox Garbles

Vox Garbles is a digital artist and filmmaker using modified video
equipment, computer graphics and creative code to explore the inner
lives of visual systems through non-narrative short films, music videos,
and still images that are often seen under the rubric of glitch art. His
work takes inspiration from the look, feel and history of late 20th
century consumer electronics while remaining deeply critical of
capitalism, marketing and technology. A common theme in these works is
the transformation of bodies and spaces by algorithmic processes,
distorted by the limits of technology.

After making his music video debut in 2021 with Byron Bailey’s “Love
like in the Movies,” he has gone on to create videos and live content
for Bella Darnell, Matt DeMello, Byte Mapper and Noex Beats. His 3D
glitch work “C0PY / PA5TE III” was shown at the 2022 Glitch Art is Dead
symposium and Jream Factory multimedia featured his animation, music
videos and stills in their group exhibition “Freq Show” in Brooklyn, NY
this September. Two of his images will be published in the fall 2022
issue of “Father Father” magazine.
