Sail the Seven Seas by Fuzzliers

Sail through space and time with Fuzziliers as they unveil their debut album, blending the best of 60s acid rock and 90s Britpop. Armed with fuzzes, synthesizers, and harmony vocals, the band invites listeners on a sonic journey that transcends borders and political boundaries.

Originally hailing from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, Fuzziliers found themselves relocating to Istanbul, Turkey, two years ago amidst political turmoil following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Despite the upheaval, the band continued to craft their music, drawing from their diverse influences and experiences.

Led by Slava Lobanov, a versatile musician known for his work in jazz, swing, and dixieland, Fuzziliers brings together a talented ensemble of musicians. With Lobanov on songwriting, lead vocals, and a multitude of instruments including guitar, bass, trombone, and synths, the band’s lineup includes Semyon Fedotov on drums and harmony vocals, Misha Paskov on bass, and Georgy Kopylov on keys, vocals, and songwriting.

The journey towards “Sail the Seven Seas” began in late 2019 when Lobanov started recording his Brit-rock inspired songs. Despite facing delays due to COVID-19 restrictions, the band persevered, culminating in a set of nine songs recorded over a four-year period. Their journey also saw the addition of Simon Shiriaev on drums and harmony vocals, adding depth and energy to their sound.

The band’s previous release, the “Would You Believe” EP, garnered critical acclaim upon its self-release in November 2023. Praised for its musicality and eclectic blend of influences, the EP showcased Fuzziliers’ ability to channel the spirit of classic rock while infusing it with their own unique style.

Reflecting on the EP, “I Don’t Hear a Single” blog noted, “the arrangements reveal a band that knows what they are about musically, but also have a great record collection.” Similarly, Alexey Beshkarev of yandex.dzen drew comparisons to legendary acts like The Kinks, highlighting the band’s ability to balance sarcasm with optimism and intricate arrangements.

Now, with “Sail the Seven Seas” set for release on June 12, 2024, Fuzziliers are poised to make their mark on the global music scene. With their blend of retro vibes, infectious melodies, and poignant lyricism, Fuzziliers invite listeners to embark on a voyage of discovery, where every note is a testament to the power of music to transcend boundaries and unite us all.
