A 30th Anniversary Celebration at Red Rocks
Over the July 12the weekend, The String Cheese Incident (SCI) reconvened on the iconic Red Rocks stage, continuing their year-long celebration of SCI’s 30th anniversary. This momentous occasion paid tribute to three geographical locations that have profoundly influenced the band’s music over the decades.
The New Orleans Incident: A Night of Big Easy Bliss
The festivities began on Friday with The New Orleans Incident, an homage to the vibrant music of The Big Easy. Special guests George Porter Jr., Ivan Neville, and their Phunky Friends, alongside Tarriona “Tank” Ball (of Tank and the Bangas) and Brothers of Brass, brought the soulful sounds of New Orleans to life. The sky above the legendary amphitheater lit up with one thousand drones from Nova Sky Stories, creating an extraordinary spectacle. The largest drone show in Colorado to date, the drones formed rolling trains above the rocks to accompany the NOLA supergroup’s rendition of “Last Train” by Allen Toussaint.
“This Red Rocks run was incredibly special for The String Cheese Incident – celebrating 30 amazing years together and honoring their roots in bluegrass and the influence of New Orleans on their music,” said manager Jeremy Stein. “String Cheese has always pushed the envelope on amazing theatrical productions to complement the music, and the addition of drone shows is an exciting exploration of the ever-evolving intersection between technology and art.“

The Nashville Incident: Bluegrass Legends Unite
The celebration culminated on Sunday with The Nashville Incident, boasting sit-ins from bluegrass icons Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, and Sierra Hull. This night also featured the second of the two stunning drone shows, enhancing the ethereal experience.
